The Safeguarding Ethics and Restoring Voter Expectations (SERVE) Act, introduced by Congressman Tony Wied, aims to address the revolving door between Capitol Hill and private industry. Currently, there are no restrictions preventing former members of Congress from serving as federal contractors immediately after their term ends, while restrictions on lobbying only last for one to two years.

FEDCON believes that implementing a decade-long prohibition on both lobbying and federal contracting for former legislators is a necessary step to restore public trust in government institutions.
