LINZ, UPPER AUSTRIA, AUSTRIA, September 2, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Candera GmbH has developed a new digital cluster demonstrator that brings connected navigation and modern HMI experiences to cost-sensitive scooters and light 2-wheelers.
Built with Candera CGI Studio and running on the Infineon TRAVEO™ T2G CYT4DN platform, the demonstrator shows how manufacturers can deliver an attractive digital cockpit while keeping hardware requirements, memory usage, and system costs under control.
The solution streams high-quality navigation and camera content from a smartphone Companion App via Wifi or BLE directly into the vehicle cluster, without requiring the navigation workload to run locally on the embedded hardware. It supports different map and navigation technologies, including Magic Lane and Google Maps. Riders can plan their route on the smartphone while navigation information is displayed as an integrated part of the native cluster interface. The solution also supports a backchannel, which could trigger an event through a handlebar-integrated remote, e.g., to start / stop the navigation or to switch between back camera and navigation view.

MODERN COCKPIT EXPERIENCE ON LEAN HARDWARE
A key advantage of the demonstrator is its highly efficient system architecture. The complete HMI runs locally on the Infineon TRAVEO™ T2G platform without requiring external DDR memory.
This helps manufacturers reduce hardware complexity and the bill of materials (BOM) while maintaining a smooth and responsive user experience. The approach is particularly relevant for scooters and light vehicles in high-volume, cost-sensitive markets.

NAVIGATION FULLY INTEGRATED INTO THE HMI
The solution is designed for resource-efficient instrument cluster applications and runs on an MCU without external RAM. The streamed map becomes an integral part of the vehicle’s native user interface, where speed, tell-tales, indicators, navigation, media and settings are combined in one consistent HMI experience.
The smartphone handles route planning and map generation, while Candera CGI Studio manages the cluster interface, screen structure, interaction logic and visual integration of the streamed content.
This architecture enables manufacturers to add connected navigation to compact and cost-sensitive vehicle platforms while retaining full control over the cluster design, interaction concept and brand experience. It also provides a flexible foundation for additional connected functions, such as camera content and future digital services.

PROVEN STREAMING PERFORMANCE
Laboratory benchmark tests confirmed smooth, responsive performance across various map applications and display modes.
Map streaming achieves 47 to 52 frames per second. Live camera streaming reached a stable 30 frames per second. At the same time, the rest of the instrument cluster is rendered at 60 FPS.
These results show that connected visual content can be integrated efficiently even on embedded platforms designed for tight cost and memory requirements.

DESIGNED FOR SCALABLE 2-WHEELER PLATFORMS
The demonstrator is aimed at OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers developing digital clusters for scooters, motorcycles and light vehicles.
By separating smartphone-based services from the embedded HMI, manufacturers can create flexible product architectures, integrate different navigation providers and scale the user experience across vehicle models and markets.
The project underlines Candera’s expertise in embedded HMI development and demonstrates how optimized software, efficient hardware, and connected technologies can make advanced digital cockpit experiences accessible to a broader range of vehicles.
