UAE declares withdrawal of its army presence in Yemen
The UAE has been part of the Saudi-led Arab coalition since 2015, supporting legitimacy in Yemen, combating terrorist groups, and contributing to regional security and stability. The ministry highlighted that Emirati forces have made significant sacrifices toward these objectives.
While the UAE formally ended most of its military operations in 2019 after completing defined missions, a limited presence remained focused on counterterrorism in collaboration with international partners.
Abdulla Mohammed Butti Al Hamed, chairman of the UAE National Media Office, emphasized that Abu Dhabi’s decision reflects “wisdom rather than emotion,” stressing strong ties with Saudi Arabia rooted in shared sacrifices and a common future. He rejected claims that the UAE fuels conflict, stating that those fighting terrorism alongside allies cannot simultaneously provoke conflict threatening their partners’ borders.
